Next port of call - Korčula

The island of Korčula is high on my must-see list, so I am pleased that this is a stopover in the middle of our trip. Damir is expecting to rendezvous with two other G-Adventure boats sailing in the reverse direction, starting in Split. The water in the bay is quite choppy when we head to the busy ACI Marina. The dock master finds a berth for us in the protected area behind the breakwall; a tight fit, but Damir deftly slides Arta into place.
First stop on shore is for gelato and then we set our to explore this enchanting town.
The streets of Korčula are laid out in a clever pattern to take advantage of the winds for both cooling and protection.

Korčula proudly claims to be the birth place of Marco Pollo.

The little lanes and hidden squares are delightful spaces that beckon us and beg to be explored. It's impossible to get lost.

This is the night we get the notion that we want to liberate a palm tree from the aft deck of one of the fancy yachts tied up across from us. A minor prank in the end. We leave our prize in Damir's "office" for him to find the next morning. He disappoints us by pretending that a large palm frond hanging above his desk is nothing unusual!
